Off-road cars were born in the 1940s in the form of the Willys Jeep. Since then, they've evolved into super-luxurious grocery-getters. But, one particular SUV had that basic flair that went back to the original roots. In today's review, let's take a look at the Suzuki Samurai. The Samurai, known in other parts of the world as the Jimny, was first produced in 1970 as a dependable little workhorse. But, it wasn't brought to the States until 1985. It was a sluggish but dependable off roader that was fun to drive and practical. It had four seats and a large trunk, along with a removable soft or hard top. And while 65 horsepower won't tear your face off with mind-blowing acceleration, it did the job quite well. The interior had vinyl or cloth seats, and was spacious. However, it did have a slight tendency to roll over at high-speed cornering. However, on the BBC's Top Gear, it conquered the Amazon Jungle, drove on the Death Road, drove through the Altiplano, drove up the Gualitari volcano, and drove down a 20000 - foot sand dune without issue, after working on a farm and being sold for $2000. So, if you want a tough, rugged, dependable, comfortable SUV, this is the car for you. It is still being produced in other parts of the world today.
