Hatchbacks. They pretty much mobilized all of Europe and Asia in the late 1970s. Since then, they had the same idea: A small but smooth engine at the front, a large trunk, lots of space in the backseat, a low price tag, and a lightweight design. In today's review, let's take a look at the Scion xD. Much like its nearly identical predecessor, the Scion xA, it has a 1.8 liter VVTi Toyota inline four. It had only about 130 horsepower, but, like all Scions, it is lightweight. Very lightweight. 1 ton lightweight. It has a large, spacious engine compartment which is ideal for oil changes and everyday maintenance. The little xD has a boxy yet somehow curvy design. It has ample ground clearance for its class. The xD has a base price of $17,750, but this can go upwards of $20,000. The 0-60 time for the xD is an amazing 7.8 seconds. Not too bad for a Japanese economy car. The interior is very high-quality, with lots of soft-touch materials. The xD's seats are comfortable, supportive, and plush. The xD has lots of storage compartments and a big trunk. Overall MPG is 27 city and 33 highway. All in all, the xD is a practical, efficient, and fun to drive vehicle.
