reviewed: scion tc
Toyota's Scion spinoff brand is keyed (no pun
intended) to younger buyers. They are currently selling 5 different models,
xD/xA, xB, TC, iQ, and the highly-anticipated FR-S. In today's
review, we'll take a look at one of Scion's two coupes: the Scion TC.
With a basic design that is loosely based on the super-cool Toyota Celica,
the TC is a simple yet sporty fastback coupe powered by a Toyota VVTi
four-cylinder that puts out about 140 horsepower. Now, this might sound like
much, but its lightness is what counts. In fact, the only thing that you need
to remember about the TC is this: LIGHTNESS COUNTS. While looking sleek and
modern at nearly every angle, it looks a little angry when viewed head-on. One
of the best things about this car is its practicality. With five seats
(foldable rear bench), a huge rear lift-back for a trunk, an enormous glovebox,
and an interior that's virtually built out of cupholders, this car lets you
arrive at the supermarket in style. Even though it's front wheel drive,
steering is smooth and gooey. The highly-padded cloth bucket seats in the front
are very comfortable and supportive. The dashboard features nice padded trim,
and the backlit radio display changes color. Speaking of radios, it has a
Pioneer stereo unit with subwoofer in the trunk.
